Complete rules for mkdev giveaway at DevOps Days London 2023

1. Introduction

Welcome to mkdev's Giveaway (the "Giveaway")! This Giveaway is a chance for conference attendees to win one of several exciting prizes, including a top-tier iPad Pro. The Giveaway is hosted by mkdev and is open to all registered conference attendees who wish to participate. By entering this Giveaway, you'll not only have the opportunity to win one of our prizes, but you'll also be subscribing to our insightful newsletter, keeping you informed about the latest trends and insights in DevOps and Cloud Native technologies. Please read the following rules carefully to understand the entry process, winner selection process, and other details about the Giveaway. Your participation in this Giveaway constitutes your full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules. Good luck!

2. Eligibility

The Giveaway is open to individuals who are at least 18 years of age at the time of entry. To be eligible, participants must have purchased a ticket and be a registered attendee for the DevOps Days London 2023 conference taking place from September 21 to September 22, 2023. Employees of mkdev, as well as immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings, and children) and household members of those employees, are not eligible to enter. This also extends to any individual affiliated with mkdev, including partners, consultants, contractors, and interns. By entering the Giveaway, participants affirm that they are eligible as per these rules. mkdev reserves the right to verify the eligibility of any participant and disqualify any participant found not to meet the eligibility criteria.

3. Sponsory

By entering this Giveaway, participants acknowledge that this Giveaway is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, the DevOps Days London 2023 conference, Apple Inc., or any other entity involved in the manufacture or promotion of the iPad Pro.

4. Agreement to Official Rules

Participation in the Giveaway constitutes the entrant's full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor, which are final and binding. Winning a prize is contingent upon being compliant with these Official Rules and fulfilling all other requirements set forth herein. By entering the Giveaway, participants confirm that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Official Rules. Non-compliance with any of the Official Rules or procedures set forth herein may result in disqualification.

5. Entry Period

The Giveaway begins at 8:00 Central European Time (CET) on September 21, 2023, and ends at 15:00 CET on September 22, 2023 (the "Entry Period"). Entries submitted before or after the Entry Period will not be eligible. The Sponsor's computer is the official timekeeping device for the Giveaway. Participants are responsible for calculating the difference in time zones.

6. How to Enter

Participants can enter the Giveaway by following these steps:

  • 1. Scan the QR code provided in our booklet or displayed on the screen behind our booth at the sponsors' area in the main hall of the conference. Alternatively, participants can directly visit the link: https://mkdev.me/b/giveaway
  • 2. Subscribe to the "mkdev dispatch" newsletter by filling in the subscription form with your email, name, and your company name. These details are mandatory for participation in the Giveaway.

Please note:

  • Participants should use the same email address that they used to purchase their conference ticket. This is to verify that the winner is the actual ticket holder.
  • Duplicate entries will not be accepted. Even if a participant enters twice with different credentials, they will still be counted as one participant.
  • Any detected attempts to enter the Giveaway multiple times using different identities or any other tactics will result in disqualification from the Giveaway.

7. Prizes

The Giveaway includes the following prizes:

  • Grand Prize (1 winner): The Grand Prize consists of one iPad Pro [11-inch iPad Pro Wi-Fi 256GB - Space Gray], one mkdev T-shirt, and one copy of the book "Meditations on programming" by mkdev.
  • General Prizes (3 winners): Each General Prize consists of a one-hour consultation with a top mkdev expert on DevOps and Cloud Native technologies on any subject from Kubernetes and Cloud Native to career advice, one mkdev T-shirt, and one copy of the book "Meditations on programming" by mkdev.
  • Consolation Prizes (5 winners): Each Consolation Prize consists of one mkdev T-shirt and one copy of the book "Meditations on programming" by mkdev.

8. Winner Selection

Once the entry period ends, the winners will be selected via a random draw using a randomizer tool. The draw will be conducted by the Sponsor, whose decisions are final and binding in all matters related to the Giveaway.

9. Winner Notification

The winners will be notified by the Sponsor at the main stage of the conference after all the conference events of DevOps Days London 2023 on September 22, 2023, 16:00 CET. While winners are welcome to accept their prize ot the main stage, it is not a requirement. We understand and respect that some individuals may have conditions that prevent them from doing so. If the winner is a valid conference attendee at the time the winner is announced, and reacted to our contact attmepts, the winner will receive their prize. If the selected winner does not attend the winner's announcement ceremony or fails to respond to the sponsor's attempts to contact them to confirm that the prize can be delivered by mail within a reasonable period of time, that winner will be disqualified, and a new winner will be selected through a redraw.

10. Acceptance of Prize

Winners will be officially announced at the main stage of the conference after all the conference events of DevOps Days London 2023 on September 22, 2023, tentatively scheduled for 16:00 CET. Winners should follow the official conference schedule for any changes to this time. Winners do not have to be present at the conference during the announcement ceremony to receive their prize. If a winner is not present at the ceremony for one reason or another (e.g., they only purchased a one-day ticket), the prizes may be shipped or delivered. If the selected winner is not present at the winner's announcement ceremony, Sponsor will contact the winner to verify that the prize can be delivered. If the winner does not respond to Sponsor's attempts to contact them within a reasonable period of time, that winner will be disqualified and a new winner will be selected by a new drawing.

Upon accepting the prize, the Winners might be asked to provide a conference ticket to confirm their status as a conference participant

11. Privacy

By participating in the Giveaway, entrants agree to the Sponsor's use of their personal information as described in these Official Rules and acknowledge that they have read and accepted the Sponsor's Privacy Policy. Personal information collected from entrants will be used by the Sponsor for the purpose of administering the Giveaway and to provide the entrants with information about the Sponsor's services, including bi-weekly email updates and occasional promotional materials. Entrants may also be contacted to explore possible collaboration opportunities. Entrants' personal information may be stored and processed by our newsletter service provider, ConvertKit. By participating in this Giveaway, entrants acknowledge that the Sponsor is not responsible for ConvertKit's use of their personal information. Entrants are encouraged to review ConvertKit's privacy policy to understand how they handle personal data. The Sponsor will not share entrants' personal information with any third parties, except as necessary for the administration of the Giveaway or as required by law.

12. Limitations of Liability

By entering the Giveaway, participants agree to release and hold harmless the Sponsor, its parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents (the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the Giveaway or receipt or use of any prize, including, but not limited to: (a) any technical errors associated with the Giveaway, including lost, interrupted or unavailable Internet Service Provider (ISP), network, server, wireless service provider, or other connections, availability or accessibility or miscommunications or failed computer, satellite, telephone, cellular tower or cable transmissions, lines, or technical failure or jumbled, scrambled, delayed, or misdirected transmissions or computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties; (b) unauthorized human intervention in the Giveaway; (c) mechanical, network, electronic, computer, human, printing or typographical errors; (d) application downloads; (e) any other errors or problems in connection with the Giveaway, including, without limitation, changes to any network or lines, servers or providers, or any errors that may occur in the administration of the Giveaway or the processing of entries, or (f) injury, death, losses or damages of any kind, to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrants participation in the Giveaway or acceptance, receipt or misuse of any prize.

13. Disputes

All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation, and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of the entrant and Sponsor in connection with the Giveaway, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of Germany, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with this Giveaway will be resolved by the German Arbitration Institute (Deutsche Institution für Schiedsgerichtsbarkeit e.V. (DIS)).

14. Results

For the names of the winners, or to receive a copy of these Official Rules, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: mkdev iPad Pro Giveaway, Prinzregentenstrasse 54, 80538, Munich, Germany. Alternatively, you can send an email request to team@mkdev.me. The winners' names will be available after the conclusion of the Giveaway. Please note, for privacy reasons, we will not disclose the winners' email addresses, phone numbers, or any other personal contact information to the public.
