Hey! 👋

Reading the recent technology news, I realized that I am optimistic about the future of technology. For once, I feel that we are about to make a new quality leap and a new technological era is about to dawn. I haven't felt this way for a long time, and in general I've lived with a feeling of utter disappointment for a long time. Remember, for example, how we used to happily check-in at the workplace, in cafes, at home the moment we step in. What has become of this app now? I don't understand how we decided, in a mass outburst, that leaking our own location to the public in real time was a great idea. And that realization was the milestone after which I started to look at most things with a lot of skepticism. And often the first question I had when I discovered a new app or service was "why?!"

We've spent a significant portion of our available capacity creating things for momentary enjoyment, narrowing our attention span, and giving old men a reason to yell at the cloud. But now that's starting to change. More and more I notice tools and applications that I add to my collection that work based on fundamentally new approaches. For example, plugins for Figma based on artificial intelligence Magician and Genius.design. These are not networks that do everything for you. But tools that intuitively complement what the designer is doing. Or here's iA Presenter, which creates text-based presentations and helps you structure and design.

Now that the tech giants have entered the game, I can't wait to see what comes out of the competition between ChatGPT and Bard. Of course, a bright future won't come right away. The public reaction to Bard's mistake during the presentation reminds me that our society is still driven by fleeting stimuli. However, the brightness of the picture of the future that is drawn before me outshines these minor frustrations. Just imagine what video games with these technologies will be capable of. An NPC who speaks not in pre-written phrases, but who independently generates answers to the player's real questions based on the array of information available to that particular NPC about the game world and the player's past experiences.

What a time to be alive!
