Mentor's Guide

Rules of communication between mkdev and mentors

The goal of mkdev is to provide mentors with students. This is our principal activity, which is impossible without staying in touch with mentors. We can roughly divide our communication into two levels.

Mandatory minimum

Every mentor must:

  • Be online in im.mkdev.me
  • Turn the im.mkdev.me notifications on
  • Answers the questions by Leonid, Kirilland especially Alexey in im.mkdev.me as fast as possible

The chance of getting a student depends entirely on how fast and sensible your answers on mkdev questions in im.mkdev are. This is also important for us as we get a new client with your help. We call it quits pretty fast with those who don’t answer in im.mkdev for several days without warning us beforehand.

im.mkdev.me is the only way of communication between mentors and the mkdev team. If there’a special deal on mkdev soon, we’ll mention it in im.mkdev. If the project gets some new functions, we’ll make an announcement in im.mkdev.

We also have a newsletter for our mentors with the same information we publish. You can sign up here: http://eepurl.com/djH9fX.

It wouldn’t hurt to remind you:

Turn the im.mkdev.me notifications on and don’t ignore us. We are partners and when we get a big fat nothing instead of an answer, we get upset as well as disappointed, as we are the ones who communicate with the frustrated clients who paid for the service.

Full-fledged partnership

We want our mentors to be our colleagues, partners of some sort, the part of our team. We value your feedback, comments and suggestions. Thus, we are over the moon (even though we cannot insist on that) when you:

  • Are fully engaged in the discussions as well as start ones
  • Regularly contribute ideas on how to perfect the project as well as the Office
  • Share with us some interesting articles we can then share with the students
  • Write articles for our website (which is also financially rewarding for you)

Such mentors are a real catch and our favorites, they will be involved in the special projects (such as working with our corporate clients) in the first place. We want you to be such a mentor too.
